Different Hair Texture Types

Most people think hair texture is “how it feels”, but that’s not it. Dry and oily isn’t hair texture, but rather the state your hair is in. Just like our fingerprints, our hair texture is also different and unique.  There are three different types of hair texture and these three can be divided into 3 categories: A, B, and C. TYPE 1: Straight Hair

Women with straight hair often have fine hair and get easily shiny & oily because there are no curls to hold the oil from traveling downwards.

TYPE 1A: Type 1A has thin and straight hair and this hair texture are common among Asians.

TYPE 1B: 1B is thicker than the previous one, but still very straight.

TYPE 1C: This hair subtype is coarse and thick. It is still straight making it difficult for curls to last.

TYPE 2: Naturally Wavy

Type 2 hair is naturally wavy with little curls. It is a lot thicker than the previous type.

TYPE 2A: 2A is wavy, sometimes thin and fine and even coarser. You will find natural s-shaped waves and this hair type is easy to style.

TYPE 2B: 2B texture is wavy and slightly thicker than 2A.

TYPE 2C: This hair type is wavier, thicker, and coarser. Styling can become challenging.

TYPE 3: Curly Hair

Type 3 is curly and these types of curls are straight when wet/ damp and curly once you dry them. Type 3 is easy to style because it has springy curls. 

TYPE 3A:
This type of hair is thick, shiny, and has defined curls.

TYPE 3B: Sometimes contain a combination of different textures with thigh curls.

TYPE 3C: 3C hair subtype has very tight curls and or kinks.

TYPE 4: Curly & Kinky Hair

Type 4 hair texture has curly and or kinky hair, it is coarse and is prone to damage as it is on the sensitive side. Healthy type 4 hair has sine and elasticity.

TYPE 4A: is soft and has tight and defined curls.

TYPE 4B: is soft and fragile with tight and less defined curls.

TYPE 4C: women with type 4C have curls that don’t even give the impression of being curly.

These are the four different types of hair textures with subtypes.
